COMMERCIAL AND LARGE AREA MAINTENANCE APPLICATIONS

Laying, cleaning and maintenance.
Several simple precautions can be taken by building owners, cleaning companies and others to minimize the risk of slip/fall accidents. In high risk situations, always consult legal counsel to minimize risk or in the case of accidents.

  1. Give special attention to areas where water and/or spills occur. Walk-off mats should be placed inside entrances before and during wet and inclement weather. Food and drink spills create slippery conditions and should be cleaned up as soon as they occur.

  2. Stripping and waxing maintenance procedures should be done at night or when there is minimal traffic. Schedule regular wet mopping at night or during off hours.

  3. At all times place wet floor signs where floor cleaning personnel are working, even during off hours. Floor cleaning personnel should verbally warn people about slippery areas.

  4. Maintain accurate records on floor maintenance schedules. Record the name brands of all products used, specific procedures used, how often, and who performed these duties.

  5. Keep a daily maintenance log. Designate one individual to keep the log up-to-date, perform routine inspections of the floor, and record findings during inspections.
